The school overall is fantastic, a great education for the price (for in state students). The teachers here seem to be screened pretty well and I didn't run into a single professor where i wondered to myselfshould they really be teaching at a school like this?Something like this cannot be easy to achieve and for that, A&M has to be applauded. The traditions are also amazing, if you enjoy that kind of team spirit. Despite our football team doing terrible the years I was there, all the students went to the games to support the team. No matter what the sport, Aggies stand behind their teams. At the school I transferred to our football team has lost the support of the students and it depresses me to no end. To me the negative parts arose from the student body as whole. I consider myself a conservative, not a republican. Coming from a town of 100,000 of mostly mixed races, I was not only use to new opinions and ideas, I constantly looked for them in my life. I was taught at my high school that without new ideas we can never grow up. Unfortunately not many students at this school understand that motto. I was often ridiculed for even defending or giving differing opinions on a subject. I voted republican in the 2008 election, but when I defended president Obama in a debate in class, I was screamed at by half the class. Most of the students had no idea what they were talking about, just that this is what my mommy and daddy taught me and it has to be right! As a non religious person I found that many of the clubs have lingering religious purposes which while never upset me, made me feel uneasy about the way I thought. It seems A&M teaches you skills for your job, but not how to think on your own!Do yourself a favor and never challenge religion, the republican party, George Bush, Divine creation or Aggie football while your in town and you will be the most popular person on campus! |
