I am a new freshman @ the Hines College of Architecture and even though it's a great school I found the program not as challenging as I expected; they're very much into craftsmanship and seem to not reward creativity and abstract thinking. The fact that the University is ranked low nationally and the school's tendency to admit quite a high number of under-achievers, makes the college of Architecture fade in national rankings and is making me want to transfer somewhere else-maybe UT or Berkley. All I can say is that the University should be more selective and provide less expensive housing options because, even though the school offers a number of high quality programs such as Architecture, Business and Law; it has a low number of students living on campus, making it one of the worst environments for student networking and social growth. |
