I was a freshmen in BU and I transferred out to California in Sophomore year. If you have an education in BU, go to SMG or Com.

PROS

Quality of Professors in SMG is top-notch:

My associate professor was a billionaire who had tremendous industry knowledge. He was also very accessible in class.

SMG's uniquely designed curriculum:

Projects require strong emphasis in teamwork and utilization of all disciplines (OM, marketing, finance).

Atmosphere:

Boston is essentially the education hub in the US, with the best universities (Harvard, MIT, Tufts, BC) pioneering the best education in the world. Proximity to these universities facilitate BU. & the atmosphere for studying + the city itself is awesome.

CONS

1.Grade Deflation

2.BU treats you like a number, not a student

3.CAS (where students have to take some of the econ and writing classes) is AWFUL. It is like a high school building that offers no specialty whatsoever to the 70 majors that it offers.

4.RESOURCES are abosultely lacking. Mugar Library (the main library) closes at around 9pm, the only computer lab behind Warren closes early, and the study areas in dorms are essentially filled with people who talks like Alexandra Wall_ce. I WANTED TO STUDY BUT I JUST COULD NOT!

5.Administration: absolutely awful

6.SCHOOL SPIRIT: almost 0. My friends take absolutely NO pride in attending BU. The only "pride" we have is our hockey team.

7. Alumni network is limited

8. Students here started a rivalry with Boston College (really?) and actually think they are better than BC.. (REALLY!??!). BC>BU… simple.

9. Some professors in CAS can't speak english, yes.

10.Housing was pretty awful…

11.CGS (College of General Studies) is the worst part about BU. It is essentially a community college for unintelligent students with a lil money in their pocket to attend. I can guarantee you BU can improve its ranking from 56 to 50 if that piece of sht is gone.

12. EXPENSIVE school fee but students dont know where it is spent. E.G. 20 million wasted on a contract for a president who did not work a single day for BU.
