Statistical Analyzer:

Your time at the University of Houston, like most universities, is going to depend on you. If you want to have fun and make friends, you're going to have to put forth the effort and leave your dorm and get involved around campus. If you want to be successful academically, then you're going to have to go to class, study and take advantage of your professor's office hours. This isn't just a degree mill where you can half ass your way through and still be fine.

I'm about to be going into my sophomore year at UH and currently I'm interning at Texas Instruments working on microprocessor design, a job that typically requires a graduate degree. The only reason I have this job is the excellent career preparation from the Career Center, the networking from the organizations on campus, and an effort to get out there and market myself.

This school has a beautiful campus and is growing every day and was just recently named to next year's edition of Princeton Review's top colleges in the US. Is it in a bad neighborhood? Yes. But I have yet to walk around campus and not see at least two security guards patrolling the borders of campus. If you want to be a successful student here, you have to be prepared to work. Because if you do that and take advantage of all the organizations on campus, and the research opportunities that the school heavily funds, you're going to be successful and be able to get a job/get into any graduate school you desire.
