Umass is what you make of it. I didn't really expect to come here but it was easily the best decision of my life. You just need to be proactive but overall it really does do a good job of helping you balance strong academics and an awesome social life.

The worst part is it's "zoomass" reputation but in my experience it doesn't really matter at a professional level. If employers and graduate schools see that you have done well during your 4 years here, you will be able to go anywhere you really want. As a result many of my friends are going to Cornell,UC berkely and harvard medical school where all of their classmates payed a lot more money to end up in the same place.
