Now, I know that you are thinking, "City politics has nothing to do with my college experience." In most cities, you would be correct. Not in New Orleans. The corruption here is not limited to one or two or three of the most recent administrations, it has been a way of life for the past hundred years or so (don't believe me? Just the other day I read in the local "this day in history" about mob rule and corrupt cops in 1880). Because of that, it [the corruption] has worked its way into the very fiber of being down here. There are so many wonderful things about the city, but they fall prey to the many awful things about this city. The out of state fee is not worth paying. If you want to enjoy New Orleans, save the 5000 a semester and come vacation here. |
