I lived on campus for the first two years of college because I wanted to have sort of feel for college since UH is mainly a commuter school and I lived in a suburb out of Houston. I did not have a good social experience by living on campus but part of that is my fault for not taking the opportunities to meet others and socialize. There are plenty of sororities to choose from (not my thing) and there are clubs to join as well. I never even knew my RA's first names because they were so non-existent, they definitely could have done a better job at picking them. It is hard to meet people in class because everyone's in a rush to go to their next class or job or home but I still managed to meet someone I clicked with and we roomed together our second year.

As far as the type of education one receives at UH, it's good quality. I had some of the best professors that were passionate for what they taught. Classes that aren't core classes were a good size and I felt like the professors had an open door if anyone had questions or was struggling with anything.

Yes, the campus is not in the nicest area but we have to remember that it is more of a commuter school than a place where people go to live on campus. The University should give back and clean up the surrounding areas if they want more of an on campus lifestyle because until then, people won't be willing to live somewhere unsafe (I'd only go to the store during the day).

In all, I would go there again and wouldn't change a thing—except maybe not live on campus because I could've saved money but I did meet some great suitemates by living on campus.
