I figured if I keep myself busy enough, I wouldn't have time to think about whether I like it here or not. That being said, not even I could prepare myself for how horrible this place is. Not only is the schoolwork not challenging, but there is nothing to do for fun. My free time is spent in thought about how much I hate it here. Lafayette's idea of "fun" is lectures about society and abstract concepts nobody cares about. Lecture on a non-profit organization that makes paper cranes to end world hunger in Africa, anyone?I tried making new friends, but I despise the population so much I refuse to associate with them. All they do is drink (because there's nothing else to do). In the classroom, they're the overly-participative teachers' pets you hated so much in high school. It's hard to find people with similar interests when every other student is international.I'm sure people can make the college work if you like to party, but if you're an antisocial teetotaller like me, you're in for a loooong 4 years. |
