GOOD: I was in a program that has an employment shortage. I completed a fantastic internship and have wonderful employment prospects. The faculty in my major are widely respected. The tuition rates are very reasonable.BAD: Other than the Financial Aid Department, and a few dedicated employees, half of the time, staff make it very clear by addressing you as, "next" or "what do you want?" opposed to "hi, how can I help you?" I am not expecting perfection, but compared to previous colleges I attended, it is way more common. Most people come into this university with pre-existing social circles. They will be polite, but it is hard to make friends beyond superficial greetings.THE UGLY: Students trash this campus and get mad if you call them out on basic littering. Been told to f*** off when I told someone to pick up their coca cola can they threw on the ground THREE times (with different objects littered). LIVE OFF CAMPUS - IT IS CHEAPER AND NOT TORTURE. I met 4 quality wonderful people and could care less of the 90% I dealt with. Overall, I accomplished my objective in getting my degree and a great job. EKU leaves me a bad taste in my mouth due to the students who attend it (being clique and not receptive to anything outside their box), the mentality of this campus, lack of human concern from staff (except Professors). I interned in a big city and made more quality friends in 4 months versus 4 years at EKU. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE (unless you major in Police Studies, Environmental Health, Safety, or Teaching.)I was involved in several clubs and extra activities on campus and I still had these issues. |
