As a former Carnegie Mellon flunk out, I can tell you that Montgomery College, at least in my experiences with engineering, has a wonderful foundation program that is both challenging and rewarding. The faculty at MC are truly teachers-they clarify misunderstandings, make your education as personal as you need it, and most of all, they care that you learn! Given my experiences, when it comes to lower division education I would pit MC faculty against research faculty at top privates any day. There are clubs and activities for those interested, though probably lacking the momentum a dorm life campus can provide. That said, if it had dorms, I would equate MC to any large UM state school (and by extension, large state schools in the US). Montgomery College is simply one of those hidden gems in the college world, one that I doubt could be found many other places. |
