You can make your own experience at UMass Amherst. Don't want to party 24/7 but want to be social and meet varied and interesting people? Live in Central. Want to focus on academics in a quieter atomnosphere? Orchard Hill. If you are a freshman, join a RAP and you will have some small classes with people you live with. Want more small classes? After the first semester of your freshman year, as long as you take one class at UMass, the rest of your classes may be taken at Smith, Mt Holyoke, Amherst College or Hampshire. The food is award-winning and amazing. My parents actually want to eat on campus when they visit. I have lost weight and gotten healthier here. There is always something to do on campus and around Amherst and Northampton. UMass Amherst is a great deal for in-state students who think for themselves and want to participate in their own education. If you don't advocate for yourself, forget about it. And if you use this site to help you make a college choice, remember that anyone with internet access is able to post a review here. Including people who got thrown out after 2 weeks or never even set foot on campus.
