I am a Video/Television major currently in my second year, and I cannot stress enough that you would be making a horrific mistake if you decided to come to this school.

The TV program here is a joke. The faculty loves to brag that the program is so hands-on and innovative, when really it's just a bunch of teenagers with cameras running around and shooting their "concepts" that would make no practical sense in the real world. The TV shows produced by students can sometimes be okay, but the equipment and facilities are terrible, and do not allow for even average quality productions.

That being said, the facilities all over the campus are practically falling apart. The classrooms are way too small to accommodate the average class size, and the buildings are very old and not well maintained. The exteriors of the campus may look nice, but don't let that fool you. Most of the classrooms are horrendous - as well as the dorms.

The vast majority of students here are incredibly dim and only care about getting drunk. Hardly anyone here actually cares about their education, they just want to party and do absolutely nothing else. You will hear students in class making at least three stupid, thoughtless comments per day. And the classwork is incredibly easy for the college level. I'd argue that most classes I've taken here were easier than classes I took in high school. That's because most of the students on this campus are—as I said—apathetic and not very bright and Hofstra caters to that because they have money to pay the RIDICULOUS tuition and fees.

This school is nothing more than a giant pyramid scheme. They lure you in with the promise of a good education and job opportunities in the city after graduation, and then they slap you in the face with a shitty curriculum, horrible facilities, unhelpful faculty, and and idiotic student body.

I am ashamed to go to this school, and I am doing everything in my power to transfer out. DO NOT BELIEVE HOFSTRA'S LIES. Do NOT come to this school.
