At least half of them do not teach what they expect you to know. Lectures are just stale PowerPoint presentations that will not even work as a reference for programming assignments. In fact, the textbooks don't teach you how to do the very problems that are assigned from said book. Basically, they make the subject matter arbitrarily difficult so that you must teach it to yourself, spend much time with profs/TA after class, or just be a friggin genius. I wasn't the best student by any means but I don't feel my education was taken seriously by many of the tenured staff. There is a strong Greek presence there and a lot of kids driving BMWs from NJ and CT. |
