This school is so backwards its not even funny. In regards to the neutral comment from the compsci major, yes…that is a fairly accurate interpretation of the student body at UMW to put it bluntly. Most of the students here are just sheep and dont actually think for themselves and the worst part is, its hard to trust people here. Why? Many of the students here, although claiming to be so open minded and what not, are really not very accepting of other peoples lifestyles. They'll rat you out for drugs, drinking, cheating, or anything that is deemed immoral etc. Even your friends will do it. Idk what it is…its very big brother here (as someone else already said) and the school like brain washes the students to be this way..i cant explain it.

Other things that make this school bad: 1) cant spend money properly 2) Residence Life.

1) Someone else already posted some of the silly ways this school spends money. For example, Resident Assistants (this is a student job) are PAID to work. However, the school spends thousands of dollars at the end of the year for a formal banquet for them (gotta feed 100+ people, the food, the waiters/waitresses, cooks, utilities, etc). Not to mention to give the RA's custom made wine glasses. How about instead of doing all this for the RA's which GET PAID TO WORK ANYWAYS you spend that money to fix the shoddy looking dorms.

2) dont even get me started here. They have NO sense of accountability on themselves. ResLife is like a lil tyranny of its own. Dont believe me? try working for them. YOu make a mistake…your fired, they make a mistake no one cares (and believe me they make a LOT of mistakes). For example this year at the banquet they awarded a select group of RA's for being competent. So does that mean the rest of the RA's (90 others or so) are incompetent. If a student worker made that mistake, they'd be fired, i GUARANTEE that. They fire you for the dumbest reasons and use perception as their reasoning over presenting actual facts for why the person was layed off.

DO NOT GOTO THIS SCHOOL. THE TOUR GUIDES ESPECIALLY LIE THROUGH THEIR TEETH (cuz they're little sheep)AND MAKE THIS SCHOOL TO BE ALRIGHT OR GOOD WHEN IT IS NOT!!!!
