The courses are great for the most part. Be aware of grade deflation: You WILL get a lesser grade than you deserve in 75%+ of your classes. High School Valedictorians become the average student here, because it truly takes intelligence to be successful. (Or a large amount of effort.) Almost all courses involve something you will not like, and I would not advise coming here if the fact that they don't have your major bugs you.Overall, the price is NOT worth the education you get, so unless you have absurd amounts of money or have a great amount of scholarships, I'd apply elsewhere. The campus is beautiful and is kept up to a just-above average level. I'd bring your own supplies for that in case it isn't done to the extent you'd like. If its enough of a problem though you can call and they'll take care of it.My main gripe about Wake is the social scene. It is good for some, bad for others. Its mainly aGet in quick, or you losekind of scenario. Its never hard to make friends, but getting into Greek life is difficult if not done the first chance you get, and near impossible after the first semester of your sophomore year.Parties aren't too great sometimes. There's no social aspect for the most part. Its a dark lounge with a bunch of people jumping around, which can be fun… but I dislike it usually. Sometimes people do stand outside the lounges though. (almost always at some places, like LXA), but it will usually kill the party inside. You could enjoy maybe 20% of the parties without being influenced. The majority of the population is rich, southern, white Christians. If you don't fit in now, its likely you won't. 50% of girls go greek and about a third of guys do I think. Its definitely more competitive for guys. |
