If you are an out of state student wanting to go to ALC, DO NOT!!! I will give you my advice not to. Alice Lloyd College is not a place to go for social life and though there might be more work put in, the quality of education is very very limited.

Do NOT be intimidated by its low selectivity rate, you would be surprised by how much mouth-breathing hillbillies live here (don't worry, most leave after the first semester). ALC usually accepts the first people to apply to the school and grades are not necessarily a factor.

Most people who come to Alice Lloyd are Education Majors yet so many people here are sports scholarships recipients who I can honestly say do not care about the education they get.

The cleanliness of the campus is fairly low when you are outdoors, band once you go inside any building, it is even worse. Personal hygiene is frowned upon in this area. It took weeks for me to finally persuade the guys on grounds to take care of that rotting possum carcass next to the creek, so cleanliness and maintainence is not necessarily focused on at this college.

The teachers at the school are either very helpful and knowledgeable in their subject or they are only here to coach a team. If you are coming here for Mathematic, GET OUT! NOW! The math taught at the school is extremely elementary, I feel stupider everytime I go to class. I had a room-mate who took Math 100 and passed with a C-. I looked over at his test grade, and saw one of the questions he got wrong was a simple subtraction of fractions equation you would solve for middle school level math…

The business department is pretty strong as well as the classes for Biology majors. There are not a lot of selections for majors unless you are an education major. Also, if you have an interest in music or theater at all, this is not the college for you. The level of music courses here are even more elementary than the math classes.

The social life in the school is very low, especially if you are an out of state student. The weekends are long and boring and the college doesn't care to offer any activities for students on the weekend. Don't be surprised by how many out-of state students transfer for the next year (I am one of them as well). The extra-cirrucular activities are severely limited unless you like the inactive student governmant association or if you are a christian. The sports here as well seem to be limited. People only seem to care about baseball and basketball. No one is even a fan of any of the sports team at Alice Lloyd. You will find more people have sweatshirts and bumper stickers for UK and people who like to talk about only UK than their own college.

Overall, the students are some of the most ignorant people I have ever met in my life yet the teachers are very helpful and the education quality is decent. Do not come here if you like the social-life or are an out-of-state student.
