Foothill is a great COMMUNITY COLLEGE I would recommend that anyone who can live with parents/friends/relatives go here if they did not get into a UCIt is large and the campus will feel extremely crowded during the first two weeks of each quarter. This will settle down as people get their schedules finalizedFoothill is in a beautiful area; there are great views of vineyards and mountains. If so inclined, there are abundant hiking trails in the vicinity, great for unwinding after class.Counselors are generally knowledgeable, but the staffing shortage entails that you have you bullet pointsready for your appointment, as you are limited to a 1/2 hr. There is definitely a DMV feel to the administration here: do your best to conduct all business (registration, pre req filing, payment) promptly; otherwise you will spend inordinate amounts of time in line waiting to sort things outThe educational quality is OK, probably on par with lower division UC classes. It is easier to get better grades in the sense that you have more access to professors, and the professors have an interest in you succeeding and moving on to a UC.Finally, it is quite easy to get involved on campus. This is important for resume building, so do it. |
