Honestly, if you're an in-state student, it's pretty hard to "fit" in; there are so many students since the university just accepts anyone (think of all the money they're raking in), which leads to one feeling absolutely overwhelmed. In addition, the requirements are plain ridiculous. They offer no use, no benefit, and no present or future value. Like come on, business forum? It's a total waste of time; you learn and gain nothing; you simply suffer from opportunity cost. Also, the fact that the only challenging and hard to pass course is Expos is pathetic (and that's stating it nicely). Really? The administrators can't think of a more original, useful class for students to take? What a waste of money and let me reiterate yet again, time. This one friend I know is to state it bluntly, a genius. When he first entered, he came in with about 47 credits. The university (being irresponsible and disorganized) didn't get the application because it was pending for months…and months (great). Thus, he couldn't get into the Honors Progam. But get this? Being a physics major, he has to take a Physics class right? The department automatically put him into Physics 3 Honors. Now for the second semester, he has to take multivariable calc, but he wants to take the honors section. Funny thing is that the department rejected him. In addition, they were extremely late in their response making him wait a week, giving their decision( which was a rejection) on the night of the last day that students can add classes. Talk about inconsideration and tardiness. It's blatantly obvious that they do not give a care for the students. Also, he took Expos his first semester; he should've passed seeing as how he passed the majority of his papers and the teacher stated the guidelines to passing, which he passed. He got absolutely no notice until near the end of the add/drop period of the second semester that he failed Expos. Why? He asked the writing coordinator (who oversees everything like a tyrant) and she said that he had 1 absence over the limit (he had 5 and the limit is 4, but he emailed the professor the night before since he had the flu and the professor gave him leniency), when he was sick, his teacher told him to just hand in his 4th final paper later (which he did) and then the lady said she can't trust that he handed it in on time, and lastly, his final paper was too short; it should've been at least 5 pages. However, on his syllabus, the professor stated that their was a word limit to meet; there was nothing about the number of pages. So, how is it fair that he failed? Since when was writing about quantity? Just what exactly is this university teaching its students? To be redundant and repetitive? Bravo.

Evidently, the administration and faculty do not care about the students, they do a mediocre job of things, and they perform at the level of a community college.

Granted, you may be thinking that I'm writing this all out in plain anger with no sense of mind, but let me assure you that these events are only the truth.

You can come to the university if you want; they do have a cheaper tuition than private universities (though tuition is rising every year), but you were warned; the faculty will not help you. To further my claim, a dean told my other friend that she had to take Calc 2 for Medical School; she later learned towards the end of the semester from another lady that Calc 2 is not required. Now…was her time spent on the class a complete waste of time? Yup, sounds about right.

Some teachers are nice, some are crappy, but the advisors and administration? What a joke.
