First off, Im 27 years old, and I live in Chicago. I had searched for a college with an wide range accounting department -mostly for a bookkeeping certificate, and I found Oakton, which doesnt just offer bookkeeping certification, but other accounting certifications, with a tuition that was affordable. The teachers in the accounting department are amazing, in my opinion. They really take their job seriously and want you to learn. I already work in accounting, so I was worried that I wouldnt be challenged, but I was wrong! They come up with research projects that really make you think and challenge yourself. I loved it! Every teacher I had were all super nice and willing to help out anytime. Their online library/resource center is amazing, (if you know how to use it). Separate topic, my financial adviser was more than helpful! All in all, I had a great experience there, I learned a lot, and I never felt I wasted my time or money going there. I did evening classes as a continuing education adult, so my classes were widely ranged from ages 20 years old even up to 50+. I never saw any drama, and the lake on campus at the Des Plaines campus is beautiful to look at on a break. I also did not participate in extra-curricular activities, so I cant vouch for those, but I always passed by the extra-curricular activities bulletin board & there always seemed to be something going on, may that be a sports game, or a play, or even a masquerade ball! I would recommend this school. |
