I think it is true that you get out of a university what you put into it. If you want to take your education seriously, HPU is a good school. It has lots of quality teachers and interesting classes. Unlike at a lot of big state schools, you can actually get to know your professors on a personal level and most of them have advanced degrees and are not just teaching assistants. The other students are also very friendly, though some of them are foreign and don't speak perfect English. But dealing with people who don't speak English is part of life. It might be annoying sometimes on group projects, but it shouldn't be an issue if you do a good job on your own work. The same goes for the homeless people in Honolulu. They are also part of life. Every big city school has them. If you mostly want to party at a tropical resort, then HPU really isn't what you want. If you want to live in Hawaii, focus on your education, meet interesting people and (hopefully) get job when you graduate, then this college is a good choice. |
