Everyone is very happy, nice, and friendly; I wouldn't suggest coming here if you're not because you will stick out like a sore thumb. Greek life is very active but it's not the only thing going on, and there is professional Greek life as well as social. My roommate is in a social sorority and loves it, and I am in a co-ed business fraternity and I love it. Academics are challenging, and many people switch majors freshman/sophomore year, which is possible because of the liberal arts curriculum. Many people move off campus sophomore year to one of the many surrounding housing/apartment complexes. Most nightlife is at those complexes, as well as on our small "frat row." Food is AMAZING. UREC (the gym) is awesome, and it's getting renovated to double its current size. Campus is beautiful, and constantly being updated. We're thinking about going D1 A (bowl level) for football. Our men's basketball team made the sweet 16 last year. Because Harrisonburg is kind of far from major airports, make sure you have a plan to get to/from the airport if you're flying in (I'm out of state, but luckily my roommate lives in NoVa). This week, the rapper Sammy Adams is performing on campus, and last spring Macklemore did a show here. A comedian from SNL was here last month. We have an on campus movie theater. Tickets are always affordable (Sammy Adams ones were $15 each). We have a really attractive student body too :) I'm very biased because I love it here, but there's a reason we have such a high retention rate… JMU is the best. |
