Foliage and Weather: Schreiner has a beautiful campus- this region of Texas is generally beautiful because it's very hilly and grassy- a bit rural but there's a river that runs the town that's very nice to visit. During the spring the wild flowers fill the fields if they received enough rain over the fall/winter. However there's a really dry heat over the summer and unless the lawn is being watered- it pretty much kills everything but the trees. It's really fun floating down the rivers around the Hill Country though.Nursing Program:I was a non-traditional student. I didn't live on campus and had a family and home to take care of. That said- going into the new nursing program you needed to be dedicated. With the amount and effort and time devoted to school- there truly is no room for anything outside of nursing. You need to eat-breathe- sleep nursing and you need to love it. They want you to go with them over the summer to other countries and just leave everything else behind. Needless to say, you need to sacrifice a lot in order to succeed here and I was not willing to do that.I also have to mention that though it is a 4 year program, my adviser- who was actually the nursing program's director, did not adequately schedule my classes within in the school over the last 4 semesters so that I could enter the clinical section of the program during my Junior year. I had to take the classes at another school over the summer. |
