My comment is only related to the student body and social life. To begin, you can expect there to be a very limited amount of diversity in the student body with regards to social status, race, and personality. This school draws students largely from private Jesuit schools around the west coast. The student body is homogenous and unless you fit a very narrow minded mold, you will likely not make many lasting relationships. The reason this school is advertised as having an unmatched sense of "community" is because the students personalities are all the same and for the most part so are their values and beliefs. There are of course exceptions to the typical student, but they are few and far between. When deciding to attend this school, I was convinced that it was big enough to find all sorts of people. Don't fool yourself, you will know most everybody with in your first semester. If you have any concern that you might not fit in with the students here, choose a different school because chances are your fears will be realized. The social environment is similar to High School, in that there is still a sense of who is popular amongst students, and the "social ladder" is still very relevant. This of course comes with drama and exclusion. As a freshman on the weekends you can expect to find a lot of drinking, as you would find at any school. While its still warm out, most students will wander the streets aimlessly looking for a party that they wont get into. Suppose you get lucky and get into a party, it will have no alcohol (despite paying a 5$ cover fee at the door) and be jammed with people to the point where you cant move. Further, you better have brought a lot of friends with you because you shouldn't expect to make any there. Most students will stick with the people they know and rarely are open to meeting new people. My suggestion to you, if you decide to go here, find a solid group of friends whom you like and just drink and kick back with them in the dorms or at a house. It is usually worthless to try and find a good house party as a freshman or sophomore, once you are an upperclassmen you will probably have an expanded group of friends and your own house, so having a party or going to one is not as difficult and I am sure is a lot more fun. All in all, this school is for a very narrow population. If you know students from a local private Jesuit High School, or affluent public school, expect most students at Gonzaga to be the same. The student body is friendly for the most part, and nobody is really malicious or hurtful to one another. Most kids are decently smart, but lack any sort of creativity or innovation. One could describe the general student body as, for lack of a better word, "common" or "basic".
