I attended Northwestern about 8 years ago for 1.5 years. I had a lot of good experiences, but it became apparent that I was in the wrong place for me. I left feeling sad about the friends and professors that I was leaving behind, but at the same time relieved because I lived in constant tension. The course work was very challenging-often in a good way, but I often had a lot more reading than was really possible even with a light course load. A major problem was that Freshmen (and to some extent Sophmores) are unable to get into basic courses and must start in on difficult courses from our majors. The reason this happens is that there are not enough sections of basic courses offered and Juniors and Seniors are taking those courses (because THEY were unable to take those classes as Freshmen and Sophomores). This makes for a hard time of transition.Orange City is fairly sleepy (and boring), but it is beautifully neat and clean, and I always felt safe. |
