I was in the Writing and Literature program. I beg of you to not make the same mistake I did. You will end up with a HUGE debt and no real career preparation. It is basically a montessory school for rich Jewish housewives, socially retarded young people from wealthy families struggling to find their place in society, and a speckle of left-of-center students from working class families who cling to the misguided belief that Naropa has something to offer to their spiritual and educational development. Students in the writing program were snooty, judgmental and cliquish. Faculty was rude, condescending, flaky, pretentious, and shockingly close-minded. Total hypocrisy and a lot of self-serving teaching techniques. Had one teacher go on sabbatical after the first month of class, and she had an adjunct teach the rest of the semester. A total joke. The yoga and meditation teacher would go out on smoke breaks during class. I look back on this experience as the worst mistake of my life. It should not be accredited. Someone's gettin rich off that scam, and it aint the alumni. |
