VTC is a technical college, which means that the instructors are generally there because of an interest in teaching, not research or something else. VTC is a small college. The upshot is that you'll only have a few large classes (all gen-eds like business law) and can therefore get individual attention, but the downside is a distinct lack of social opportunities. VTC's courses are definitely harder and more interesting than what the Community College of Vermont offers, which is to be expected of an institution which has an actual selection process. Their software and electrical programs (e.g. computer engineering) are well thought out and difficult, and I've heard great things about other programs like dental. I cannot speak to the quality of other programs. VTC is not the best school in the world, but you do get incredible return for the amount of money spent. |
