If you like guidos in tight white t-shirts acting tough and girls with tons of makeup, this might be the place for you. Despite there being a few bars in South Orange, there isn't much of a drinking scene. Most people stay in their dorms and get high, or keep to themselves. Race relations are terrible on campus. Diversity can be a positive for some students, but not when there is constant tension between whites and blacks. If you aren't interested in pledging a frat or sorority, don't go here! You will have nothing to do. Even though it is a private school it is pretty dead on the weekends as many students go home. The classes were not bad and I liked many of my professors, but they seemed frustrated by the student body. Most students cared little for their studies. The overall vibe on campus is not a positive one as it is in a terrible neighborhood. If you like New York City, you are within a train ride of everything it offers. If you prefer a more rural setting and/or appreciate nature, do not go here. |
