Though UNR is a great school, it is not a good fit for the rare few students that do not party every night and enjoy cussing, drinking, drugs, ect. excessively. Academically I love this place. The faculty in all departments so far have been really good-teach well, give out practice exams, are approachable, plenty of office hours. The size is really great too. You can walk from the dorms to the stadium in maybe 15 minutes if you're walking at a leisurely pace. There are a lot of stairs though. People-wise it's also a nice size. You can meet new people in every class and still have classes with last semesters friends or whatever. Our football team (and maybe basketball too?) are great and there's a TON of school spirit here. Half the people you'll meet are wearing UNR gear or have a UNR water bottle, sticker, hat, ect. Socially this place is all about partying. If you don't go out you'll have no friends and nothing to do. Tahoe is 45 mins away in winter, hiking is alright. So I hope you are into greek life, drinkning, partying, and all that jazz. Otherwise this place is amazing and you really feel like you're getting your moneys worth. Advisors (at least the engineering ones) and financial aid/cahsier's office staff are very helpful and nice and understanding. You'll almost certainly get into the classes you need. |
