I researched colleges extensively before I came here. I visited campus twice. What Wooster presents itself to be and what it really is are two totally separate things. I left after my freshman year. To summarize:

PROS

The campus is beautiful. The sunrises over the golf course are amazing.

The professors are interesting and approachable.

The classes were an easy 4.0. If you took AP or Honors classes in high school, you will be able to do well and have a job.

If you enjoyed playing several high school sports, you can continue playing all of them at Wooster. The college is very accommodating to it's athletes and the level of sports is still high school. So is the band.

CONS

The city of Wooster is divided as follows:

Downtown - This is NOT a college town. The streets roll up at 5:00.

The area between town and campus - I was harassed by the "townies" every time I walked to the drug mart.

Campus - too bad they don't shovel the sidewalks in the winter. Don't bother filling up the arch, they won't cancel class.

The North end of town where all the low end chains are. Do you really want to hang out at Applebee's and Longhorn?

Amish in their buggies and "Townies" driving through campus. Horses and sports cars. An interesting mix.

The dorms and their communal bathrooms are horrendous. Filthy, especially when they are not cleaned on the weekend. People were constantly putting their leftover noodles in the sink. There are no garbage disposals in the sinks.

You can't control the heat in the dorm room. You open your window and everyone standing outside is smoking. Do you want to cool off or die of second-hand smoke…your choice.

Do you honestly want to live in a dorm all four years??

The only time the dorm food was good was when the alumni were on campus. You have to pay to eat this food for four years.

The complete and total lack of anything to do. This town lacks any type of culture. Once again, this is NOT a college town.

If you want to go to graduate school, you can get your Master's thesis done senior year. If you want a job when you graduate in four years, not so much. It truly is a glorified high school vs an actual college.

Is Wooster worth the ridiculous amount of tuition they are now charging.? , If you don't get a scholarship it's not.

I could not wait to leave. I am so glad I did.
