The good:

This school is relatively small and easy to navigate, which a pretty campus that is only a couple of minutes away from the beach. The professors in the biology program are absolute wonderful. They want you to think rather than regurgitate information. Professors are easy to access, and there are multiple tutoring opportunities in the learning center for most courses. They host a Peace Conference every year too, which I found to be inspiring.

The bad:

If you want to transfer, I suggest doing a lot of research on what courses you need because the counselors don't offer a whole lot of help. The majority of the help you'll get with transferring to a UC or CSU are the transfer fairs and workshops that the college holds. That is if you don't have during the workshop or fair hours. It's also pretty hard to get an appointment if you have a popular major. Also, a majority of the professors that you will take for your gen ed are crap. If they aren't old and arrogant, they are young and have absolutely no idea how to teach. In my experience, the younger ones are extremely uncomfortable and make a lot of mistakes and very jittery speaking in front of an audience which can be distracting. I would also suggest studying outside from your in-class notes to maximize your understanding of a subject since 9/10 times the professor will just confuse you more with unneeded information on a subject as easy as tying your shoes.

Next: Social life = F. It feels like you're in high school again, with all of the girls who decided to take the same classes together since they never had the option to do so in high school. A lot of cliques in my opinion in the classes, which is irritating when mid-lecture you have a group of girls in the back of the classroom laughing loudly.

If you're not one of the blow-average intelligence valley girls who are motivation to further their knowledge, there IS hope for you. When you get to the more serious major courses, you will find more people who are motivated to get a UC transferable-worthy grade to socialize with. And by socializing, I mean getting coffee on your way to your study group.

Registration: So easy a monkey can do it. The problem is that if you don't have priority registration, GOOD LUCK getting any classes that you actually need. Usually the first semester is filled with bullshit electives until you build up a good enough GPA for priority registration (which will help you in getting every class you need to transfer without having to be wait listed).

My tip to you: don't let yourself become unmotivated by surrounding yourself with people who are so easy to accept mediocrity. Go and transfer the hell out ASAP.
