Almost everything about this school is subpar. The advising is incredibly bad. Advisors (and many teachers for that matter) are very noticeably just "there for a paycheck". Many will go through the motions and do the absolute minimum to get you out the door. The level of difficulty is low in classes because of the disparity of education among students (one student couldn't read in a freshman English class). There have been multiple occasions I have heard teachers telling students to drop classes rather than teach them material to help them be successful. Very infrequently will you come across a teacher who is dedicated to instilling an actual understanding of the material in the students. UNLV is honestly a small step above for profit schools like Kaplan and ITT Tech. Tuition is increased only to have the money be appropriated into the absolute wrong areas (mostly the pockets of higher officials), and the voice of the students is completely ignored. If you are an out of state student paying to go here, I would equate your purchase to spending $60,000 on a used Toyota Camry. |
