Emmanuel College is not a good school relative to other colleges and universities. The school would not be able to survive without depending so much on the church denomination IPHC as its crutch. The school would of had to close its doors if the denomination did not do what is essentially a bail out to save the school. Not only that but a vast majority of the students only go because it is associated with their denomination "IPHC". The rest of the students are athletes for the most part only their for the opportunity to compete in college athletics. Some will argue that the school is fantastic and the small school atmosphere is incredible but understand that their are plenty of other small school atmosphere schools other than Emmanuel college that are miles better. I did enjoy the majority of the professors and felt many of them where quite bright and I was able to learn a lot from my classes. The biggest shortcoming of EC is the close mindedness of the student body and college as a whole. I understand it is a christian college but a more accurate description of the college is ignorant, because that is what you will be on many of the major current issues of the world and of worldviews in general. I would strongly encourage anyone that wants to go to EC to look at multiple small colleges and universities before committing. |
