Cedarville University was an excellent choice for my undergraduate education. I was a pre-medical student at Cedarville and have been accepted to several medical schools as I get ready to graduate. Cedarville's academic coursework is rigorous and challenging - I have many friends who have gone on into graduate programs and each one has had only positive things to say about their preparedness upon entering medical school. I am confident that my experience will be the same.

In terms of spiritual growth and the application of faith into academics, I thought Cedarville did a fine job. While I have experienced two administrations during my time here, I find that classes for the Bible minor still promote critical thinking and discussion of different perspectives, not just the Southern Baptist position held by the University. Several of the professors that I was taught by valued discussion-based learning which allowed students the opportunity to struggle with difficult theological issues being discussed during class.

While the Bible classes fostered an environment of critical thinking and discussion, the daily chapel services were more strictly regulated by the administration. During my last three years under the new administration, chapel speakers were largely derived from graduates and affiliates of the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, of which a large portion of our administration are included. While this isn't necessary a bad thing, I thought that it often stifled discussion rather than promote open-mindedness on theological issues.

Social life is rather poor, as Cedarville is located out in the middle of nowhere. Student Life does provide events and activities every month or so, and there are many intramural athletic sports to get involved in. College life is what you make of it I suppose.

Overall, my experience at Cedarville was largely positive. Academically, Cedarville is about as strong as they come for a Christian college. My peers and I have been competitive and well-prepared for entrance into medical and graduate programs at other institutions. Theologically, Cedarville is openly Southern Baptist, but Bible classes allow opportunity for critical thinking and discussion of other theological viewpoints. I believe I have grown in my faith, and am well-prepared to go out into the real world.

I would choose Cedarville again, and would recommend it, especially to those who are serious about receiving a good education or are interested in a competitive degree-field.
