The first year at Parson is very hard but if you manage to come trough you will understand how much you have grow personally. They throw you into the fire first year to get rid of the people who are not worthy. That is why the drop out rate is so high. If you manage to overcome that you are part of the select group and the way you have dealt with pressure and stress is only going to help you when you get to the REAL world. This life is NOT for everybody!! It completely depends on what you want. People here are not afraid to work hard for what they want, but, from the first year I have noticed that although everyone is determined they are still generous and kind whit sharing what they know. The first year allows you to collaborate with people in different majors and if you play it smart you will build your contact because you never know whose help you need later on. The city itself is extremely overwhelming but it gives you so much in return. It takes real grit to continue ploughing through but it only shows your capabilities. Everyone has a subjective experience and that depends on the professors you get in your classes. This could range from, "absolutely life changing experiences," to "a complete waste of time." Here it is up to you to do research on your classes and professors to make sure that you select the best for you. Every department has amazing, life changing professors and if you want that it is your responsibility to find it. PS: The social scene here is pretty good if I might add. It's a great way to network with people who are big in the design world |
