I attended Davenport during a time when every other commercial on the radio was about how Davenport students are in demand and how local companies are working with Davenport to hirer their graduates. These commercials used to make me unbelievably angry once i graduated and found that my degree and I were not in demand. During my junior and senior year I made a point of being in the career counseling center weekly. I figured if I got to know the people working in that office I would have a better chance of getting an internship and ultimately a job upon graduation. I asked for help finding an internship for 3 semesters and finally took matters into my own hands and convinced a company to let me intern in a not for pay or credit capacity. The only time the career counseling center showed any interest in me was when i told them the company I was interning with wanted to build a relationship with the university. Who doesn't like free labor? Anyways save your money and avoid this fast food chain type university.Honestly I did the work well, i paid the fees, and now all i have is debt and a diploma worth less than the paper its written on. |
