The school has some positive aspects, such as the professors, the beautiful campus. But the negative aspects indoubtably overweigh the positive ones.

The residents in Richmond DON'T LIKE the college. UR has a bad reputation for raping and drinking parties, though the faculties are trying to improve its reputation. If you tell a Richmond resident that you're from UR, don't be surprise if they do not show any enthusiasm.

The college is NOT a liberal art college!!! I HIGHLIGHT IT. If you are a business major and want to experience small classes, come here. If you major in ANY OTHER field, please do not for your own sake. No one major in humanity, especially History and Philosophy. The situation for Literature and political science is a bit better, but not that better. You can see the data in us news that 40% of the student body have a business major. (I have to be honest that Biology and Psychology are okay. But other scientific subjects, such as physics, is in an embarrassed condition. Besides, UR does not offer some majors, such as archeology and linguistics, you got to be careful if you are considering those majors.

The atmosphere in UR is very narrow-minded, either you are in or you are not. There is no third type. There is no diversity. The only entertainment is parties and beers. If you are fat, you out stand. If you are LGBTQ, you definitely are the 20/3000 in campus. If you know the type of life here, it may be safe for you to have fun. But if you are unfamiliar with UR, please be careful.

Besides, UR is not like a typical liberal art college that have many stylish elites. Above 60% students have financial aid. So don't be surprised if many students here are for the financial aid. They do not come for a ?liberal art education" that some reputed liberal art colleges offer.

All in all, if you want to study business, received money from UR, and like drinking, then the school is perfect for you.
