Athletics are prioritised over academics. Overall, the school thinks of its non-athlete students as mere numbers and sources for athlete paychecks. The staff is quite unhelpful, and impossible to contact outside of classes. Parking is horrible, passes are expensive and lots are closed off several weeks before a game. Unless you're into drinking and going out to bars over the weekend, UK isn't a great place to socialise and make friends. Campus security is improving to control crime and sexual assaults (which have been frequent in my two years at this school). I plan to transfer out to a school that values academics and the learning experience. |
