As a student, it has been very entertaining but also risky for Drakes future all the lawsuits that have been coming lately. We have an AD that illegally fired two in her department. We have an Assistant Dean of Students that illegally got rid of several students and used it as a platform for getting a promotion to Dean of Students. The President had two choice with the Dean of Students - Promote him and fight the lawsuit or fire him and settle. Settling would be very expensive way to go so that was thrown out the door. The President illegally forced the firing of a Trustee. President, AD, and Dean of Students are all stuck at Drake and have to ride this out since no other college will touch them with this baggage. Drake doesn't have a chance of winning any of these lawsuits which will impact the endowment. Right now Drake is using their law school resources to try and drag all of these out hoping that the people that have lawsuits against them run out of resources. As students, we have bets going on how long we think President, AD, and Dean of Students will last before being fired. Information like this needs to be known so that anyone deciding to come here is aware before committing to Drake. You should be able to find published news that talks about all these lawsuits.
