I'm from Dallas (lived in highland park) and SMU was the most socially miserable experience of my life and I regret the years (and money) I wasted as a full-time student there. So, after 3 years of disappointment, I transferred out and graduated from another University. Do not believe the FAKE 5-star Yelp reviews!

If you can imagine one place in the world where subtly-prejudiced, greedy, selfish, materialistic-back-stabbing-entitled folks can conglomerate, it would be Southern Methodist University. Do you want to be judged by the clothes on your back or what is on top of your head instead of what is in your head? If yes, SMU is perfect for you.

Before I graduated high school, I had traveled the world, lived in different countries, and spoke 3 languages. SMU's recruiter seemed great when he visited my high school and convinced me it was a good fit for me. Also, SMU's brochures and website looked welcoming and the pictures of students smiling together looked inclusive to me. I WAS WRONG!

After spending time with SMU students, the people I met at SMU felt like a downgrade from high school… like I had been demoted to some clique"y" middle school.

Seriously, I've never met so many insecure and pre-programmed-robotic-no-personality people in my life. Greek Fraternity Life was incredibly stupid…and there's a rich history of bigotry that is hidden from the public.

To this day I can confidently, SMU is still the place where low-class-trashy "kids" congregate who value material possessions more than integrity (or basic human compassion). Oh, and don't get me started on the amount of students there who are on some kind of psychiatric meds… not to mention the total CRACK HEAD druggies who look and act like clean-cut "do-gooders" during the day.

Greedy and backstabbing: My parents headed (and funded) a research project to SMU when I was a new student there and the professor eventually stole the idea and research work, and a lawsuit ensued…and this professor didn't win. Why would any professor of a University have the audacity to steal and cheat their partners who also are funding them? Because they're part of Southern Methodist University. It's a good example of the

dishonesty with a smile
type of people you'll meet here.

Go to ANY OTHER University if you care about your future.
