Attending UVM was an excellent decision, albeit an expensive one. My experience lived up to the "Public Ivy" tradition the university flaunts. I was challenged academically by my professors and peers and expanded my perspectives and world views. Faculty and staff were accessible at all levels. I was able to meet with professors to try to work through academic struggles (without bending their standards). I was even able to meet with multiple deans for advice when I sought to change my major. Socially, I had a ton of fun, despite not skiing or snowboarding until after graduation. I am not a smoker and didn't drink much before turning 21 and was still able to make a ton of great friends and plenty of memories. UVM is what you make of it. As the motto goes, "Studiis et Rebus Honestis," it is for studies and other honest pursuits. Show up and live the life you want to live, study what you want to study, and use the faculty and staff to your advantage. If you need help, talk to your professors and/or go to the Center for Academic Success. Talk to your professors, advisors, and deans. They are humans, and super helpful ones at that. Most importantly, get to career services early and often, find internships, and build a network.
