There was supposed to be a huge demand for high school teachers. NOT!! I was discouraged in that field, and I stopped looking in 1995. It did not help that I was not in the elite group of students (although I had a 3.6!) I came from an area that the community despised because of a "hillbilly" stereotype. It still rankles me 27 years later. My memories of student life there were not that great. Run by the frats/sororities and the Brock Scholars (don't know about 2017). No parking and tickets handed out like candy at Christmas. And at the student housing, I had a RD at the last place where I lived that was fantastic. But the ones I dealt with at the apartments where I lived at the start of my time there seemed to "feel their oats." Big on "putting accounts on hold." Let your friends who go to the college give you their opinion, not those ambassadors that make a fourth-rate campus look first-rate. |
