I have been at Emerson for less than a semester, and I already have transfer application in so I can leave. First, I will start by saying that my living situation at Emerson is ideal. I live in a suite, and really like all my roommates. Also the new dining hall, although a little small, is really nice, and the food is good. That aside, I am disappointed in almost everything else. My classes are boring, and I don't feel like I am learning anything, and I have never spoken one on one to my advisor because I don't know how to reach out to her. The extracurriculars here are plentiful, but sooo serious. Everything is competitive, you have to interview, or put in an application, just to join a club. I was told I shouldn't even apply to one specific publication until i had At Least 3 internships under my belt..and I am a freshman. Also many clubs, and activities will rule you out because of your major, saying it doesn't line up, which makes everything very pigeon-holed. Theatre here is also very intense, and don't expect to get in, or get a part if you aren't a theatre major with an in. I have also encountered far to many condescending students. I swear, half of the people in my classes act like they could stand up and teach the class. It's unfortunate because I did consider Emerson my dream school, but now I feel duped, and have decided to move on to somewhere better. |
