Your experience at Carthage is dependent on the effort you are willing to apply to college life.

Have an unhelpful advisor? Ask another professor to be you advisor.

Paying too much money? Argue with the business office until they give you more financial aid. Apply for scholarships (this place offers an excellent fine arts scholarship) or research opportunities. Most professors are willing to hire research assistants, lab assistants, tutors, etc.

Not doing well in class? Professor problems? Ask another professor in the same department for help on the homework.

Hard time making friends? Join one of the hundreds of clubs on campus. Ask your classmates if they're in any clubs/frats. Find fellow Carthaginians on social media and meet up with them—you're in the 21st century. Act like it. People don't exist in this world to entertain you; you are adults now.

The vast majority of the professors here are willing to help work with you around problems, or direct you to someone who will.

My biggest complaint is that school resources are not well used to keep this a well-maintained and accessible campus—the dorms often have leaky windows and broken door locks, and are inadequate for students with food/airborne allergies, dietary restrictions, and other physical or mental health problems.

Socially and academically, however, the experience is on you to make the most of it.
