Miami sells you a whole lot of false promises when you visit and during orientation. In short, Miami is an academic joke! The professors, on the whole, are essentially useless, even those that speak English. Their business school has a high ranking owed to the fact that the professors, admittedly, hand out low grades to maintain this rating while doing nothing to encourage real learning or motivation. The advisors/counselors are perhaps even worse than the teaching and have steered our student in the wrong direction at every turn. Contrary to what they will tell you, don't even think about changing majors at Miami without a ton of hastle, heartbreak, and lots more time/money spent at Miami. The housing (both on/off campus) is mostly sub standard and way over priced for what you get. And speaking of price, they will "nickel and dime" you to death. Rest assured the problems mentioned above are not one-off occurrences and we unfortunately could provide many, many examples for all of the above. |
