I've attended two other universities (grad school) since graduating from Valpo, so I'd like to think I have a little perspective.

VU is a solid academic school. It's very undergraduate focused. In my four years, I only had one TA who came in once a week for half a semester to lead discussion for a non-major course. The rest of my classes were taught by actually professors, and I can count on one hand the number of bad ones I had.

On campus housing kind of sucks, but it's improving. VU is in the process of building new residence halls, which are much needed.

If you're looking for a party school, you're not going to find it here (basketball is pretty cool, though). There are only a handful of parties if you aren't Greek. The students who are Greek take a lot of pride in it, which is fine, but some take it too far and are judgmental of people who aren't Greek ("GDIs"). Honestly, VU was cliquier than my high school.

I loved the city of Valparaiso, but keep in mind that it's not very big. If you want to go to a concert or a game, Chicago is a one-hour train ride away. But Valparaiso is very safe, has good restaurants, and you can walk home from the bar and not get mugged (do NOT take this for granted!!!). There's also a lot of green space on campus, and it's gorgeous in the spring.
