In hindsight, after trying to get positions in my field (Animation through the School of Film & Animation MFA program) I realize how poor the courses and preparation for the work world really were. The professors, with very few exception, were lazy. Discussions of how to actually gain entry to the field (ie internships) were rare despite it being virtually mandatory for the field. I think of my class, maybe 2 of 15 actually work in the animation field currently and not necessarily in creative roles. At one point during my 3 years of coursework, they didn't even have a 2D animation instructor. For a year. At an "animation" program. |
