I am a junior nursing student here at UNH. This program has been beyond a negative experience. The faculty are rude, unhelpful, and unwilling to work with you. I have gone to about 6 or 7 officially scheduled meetings with faculty this semester and each one of them have told me to meet with someone else. These issues have mostly included clinical and simulation experiences, which are both unlike any other nursing school that I have ever heard of. Clinicals are a hit or miss depending on your instructor and are completely unregulated. You also have to stay at your med/surg clinical site all year, so if you have a bad experience first semester, it doesn't matter. My med/surg site is over an hour away, meaning that I have to get up at 4:30 am to be able to get there at 6:30 am. As for simulation labs, we are not taught the skills that we need to know. In other words, there isn't a skills lab where you learn how to do the skills and are then tested on them. Instead, you are just tested on your knowledge and receive a grade of either a 0 or an 100. That's right, no partial credit whatsoever. To make this experience even better, this grade is 25% or the overall med/surg clinical grade. I have friends who attend Simmons, St. Anselm's, and UMass Lowell and none of them have to go through anything like this. The grading is completely unfair and the faculty are unwilling to help. Go to another school if you can.
