I just finished up my third year at OSU and so far it has been an incredible educational experience. The campus is large enough and involved enough for any person to find an activity to partake in. There's Greek life for social people, all kinds of clubs for activities and ethnicities, countless ways to get involved, and constant opportunity for academic development. I'm a marine biology and music double major and love every second of it. The music department is currently getting redone, but it's definitely the kind of department where if you want to learn a bunch, there is a ton of equipment and opportunity to learn, or if you just want a degree, you can slide through easily. The biology department here is absolutely incredible. There is a separate structure out on the coast (Hatfield Marine Science Center) where marine bio majors are required to spend a term, and literally almost every day there, we went out into the field. We'd do 2 hours of lecture and then hop in the vans and drive over to tidepool or count seals or visit sea lion caves or do bird nesting surveys, etc. Meanwhile in Corvallis, the teachers are always present and ready to help you when you need and more than willing to help you find volunteer work (the Fisheries and Wildlife teachers are particularly amazing—s/o to Scarlett Arbuckle). I've made friends and great connections here and am so glad I decided to attend OSU. There really is something for everyone here and I feel more at home than I do back on the east coast.
