When I entered 'K,' I did not have a clue as to what I wanted to major in or what I wanted to do after college. At 'K' I was not pushed or pressured into deciding my future immediately. Instead, I was given the opportunity through 'K's liberal arts curriculum, career development and foreign study program to get a taste of every subject and experience many exciting cultures and occupations. This not only made me a well-rounded and educated person but also opened my eyes to the different disciplines of study. The small class sizes at 'K' really gave me an opportunity to get to know my fellow classmates and professors who helped me explore and learn about each subject as I looked into my different subject areas of interest. My foreign study experience in Germany helped me explore new cultures and see things I had only read about. Those learning experiences combined with my swimming experience taught me that I could overcome and accomplish anything on my own.

Eventually, I decided on political science and education for my major with my minor in psychology. Upon graduating from 'K' I immediately had a lot of opportunities for employment at many public and even some prestigious private schools such as the Cranbrooke Institute near Detroit. I decided to take a job near my wife teaching world history and coaching swimming at South Lake Schools in St. Clair Shores, Michigan.

I love my work and 'K' couldn't have prepared me more for the contact I have each day with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
