The HSU geology program helped a lot by focusing on field mapping, report writing, independent student research projects, and other practical courses that have real-world applications. When I sought my first job, I was competitive with students who has Masters and PhDs from other schools, finishing in the top 10 in a poll of 400+ applicants!
